Matthew Worley: Out of the Shadows – A Survey of Recent Research on the Communist Party of Great Britain

Abstract

In: Jahrbuch für Historische Kommunismusforschung 2009. Berlin: Aufbau-Verlag, S. 349–358

This article offers a survey of recent writing on the Communist Party of Great Britain (CPGB). It suggests that the history of the CPGB is best understood when examined within the wider political and socio-cultural context of Britain. Moreover, it makes the case for utilising the CPGB (and other national communist parties) as the basis for comparative study into the activities of the wider communist movement.
