Secret after 5 - an evening tour of the exhibition “Access to Secrecy” and the Stasi Records Archive

Discover the hidden world of surveillance in your after-work hours: a short guided tour across the historical Stasi headquarters and trough the archives, followed by a walk through the exhibition "Access to Secrecy". Compact, informative and offering a rare glimpse behind closed doors.

For 40 years, the Stasi secured the rule of the ruling party, the SED. In its "fight against the enemy," the Ministry for State Security (Stasi) expanded ever further, in Lichtenberg and throughout the GDR. In 1990, courageous citizens not only secured the secret police's documents from destruction, they also made Mielke's headquarters a public space again. Today, the Stasi Records Archive in the Federal Archives is located here, providing information about the Stasi's activities and its records.

"A monument to surveillance": The Stasi Records Archive contains 111 kilometers of files, many of which contain personal data about individuals – collected by the State Security Service. The exhibition "Insight into the Secret" makes the significance of this archive tangible.
