With the following privacy protection information, the Federal Foundation for the Study of Communist Dictatorship in East Germany, based in Kronenstraße 5, 10117 Berlin, is declaring which personal data it collects from visitors of the website www.bundesstiftung-aufarbeitung.de and how it uses these personal data.


Personal data
Personal data is information that can be used to determine your identity. This includes your name, postal address, address and telephone number as well as location data. Purpose of data processing

Deletion of collected data
The collected data is deleted after the purpose for which it was collected has been achieved. At Piwik, this takes place after the end of the current calendar year or after the statistical data have been evaluated. The data you enter yourself, e.g. for the placing an order, will be kept until the next annual budget audit and will be deleted afterwards. Personal data that you enter in the contact form will be stored in our e-mail communication and deleted after the deletion periods for our administrative files as part of the traceability of administrative actions of the Federal Foundation.

General data recipients and forwarding of your personal data to third parties
When processing your orders, we use your personal data only within the Federal Foundation and the company commissioned with dispatching the orders. Your data will not be transferred to any third countries outside the EU. We will not pass the data onto third parties without your explicit approval. As far we as we are obliged legally or by court order to do so, we will transfer your data to authorities entitled to receive information. In case you use platforms such as Youtube or Facebook via our site, their data protection regulations apply.
For sending the newsletter "aufarbeitung aktuell" your e-mail address will be forwarded to the external processor newsletter2go GmbH for this purpose and processed in accordance with the data protection regulations. The data protection regulations of newsletter2go GmbH apply.

Web analytics with Piwik
This website uses the open source software Piwik for statistical analysis of user access. For this purpose, Piwik generates text files that are called "cookies" and stores them on your computer, thus enabling an analysis of your use of the website. Information generated by the cookie (including shortened IP address, visited page, browser or referring search engine) about your use of the website is stored on the server of the Federal Foundation. The IP address is made anonymous immediately after processing and before it is stored. This means that evaluations generated with Piwik are completely anonymous and do not allow any identification of individual persons. Data stored by Piwik is not linked to other data sources and do not get passed on to third parties. Order form for exhibitions
When ordering exhibitions, the privacy protection information of the Federal Foundation apply. Your data provided in the online form will be stored, used, transmitted to the shipping service provider and deleted after the legal storage periods for the purpose of sending you the exhibition. Since the order is placed using a Google Forms form, Google's privacy policy also applies to the use of this form.


Google Maps to visualise the distribution of the exhibition
Google Maps is used on this website to visualise the distribution of exhibitions offered by the Federal Foundation. When using Google Maps, Google collects, processes and uses data about the use of the map function by users. You can find more detailed information about data processing by Google in the Google Privacy Policy. There you can also change your personal privacy protection settings in privacy settings.


Embedded YouTube videos
We occasionally embed YouTube videos on our website. YouTube LLC, 901 Cherry Ave., San Bruno, CA 94066, USA is the operator of the corresponding plug-ins. When visiting a page with the YouTube plug-in, a connection to YouTube's server is established and YouTube is informed which page you are viewing. Use of cookies in the online shop
A cookie that is valid for the time of your visit to the website is used in the shopping cart of the online shop. This is necessary for the function of the shopping cart for technical reasons. If you fill in your personal data in the contact form of the online shop, they will be stored and used by the Federal Foundation for the purpose of processing and sending your order. The order data is printed for address labels and invoices. The printed invoices are kept and destroyed after the annual budget audit. Use of personal data for sending the "aufarbeitung aktuell" newsletter
If you subscribe for our e-mail newsletter, we will ask you for your e-mail address only. This e-mail address will exclusively be used for sending the "aufarbeitung aktuell" newsletter if you have explicitly approved the subscription. This approval is expressed by the so-called double opt-in procedure where the potential recipient can be included in a distribution list. Subsequently, the user receives the opportunity to confirm the registration in a legally secure manner through a confirmation e-mail. The address is only actively included in the distribution list if it is confirmed. General contact form
If you enter data in the general contact form, they will be stored and used by the Federal Foundation for the purpose of processing your request. Data that you enter in the contact form will be stored in our e-mail communication and deleted after the deletion periods for our administrative files as part of the traceability of administrative actions of the Federal Foundation.


Registration form for external events
If you enter data in the form for registering external events, these data will be visible on our website. As explained in the notice associated to the form, only details of the person responsible for the database entry are not published. These personal data are stored by the Federal Foundation for the purpose of communication with the person(s) responsible.
